Newest Weight Loss Surgery

Surgical treatment for chronic obesity has evolved quickly over the past few decades, and here at the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program, we're constantly striving to integrate the newest weight loss surgery techniques and options into our practice.

What’s New In Weight Loss Surgery?

Bariatric medicine is a rapidly emerging field. Our team of highly skilled bariatric surgeons, doctors, nurses, and support staff are world leaders in both the delivery of cutting-edge treatments and the development of new, innovative protocols and surgical methods.

The newest weight loss surgery options use laparoscopic (also known as minimally-invasive) techniques that help improve patient outcomes following procedures such as the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP), bariatric revision surgery, and adjustable gastric banding. Laparoscopic surgery eliminates the need for large incisions, reduces the risk of post-operative infections, and leads to quicker recovery times.

Another exciting development in bariatric medicine is the growing body of evidence that links procedures such as the biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch with dramatic improvements in diseases such as metabolic syndrome and Type 2 Diabetes. This link confirms that weight loss surgery isn’t simply a cosmetic procedure.

Here at Fresno Bariatrics, our surgical team has performed thousands of advanced laparoscopic procedures, and we’re often asked to train other bariatric surgeons both here in the United States and abroad. We use the most advanced technologies available today, and we’re always searching for innovative ways to make bariatric surgery safer, more effective, and easier to access.

Does Fresno Offer Experimental Treatments?

We do not offer experimental treatment.

All of the medical weight loss services and procedures offered here at the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program are FDA-approved obesity treatments. As a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence and fully MBSAQIP accredited bariatric program, we’re committed to providing our patients with personalized, proven medical interventions that achieve the best possible patient outcomes.

However, we do have access to a number of medical devices and treatment options that are on the leading edge of bariatric medicine, thanks to our position as a world leader in weight loss surgery.
